A Playlist for Sunsets & Bruises

SA Music Award nominee Mode Shifter is hitting out hard in the second half of 2022 with his EP Sunsets and Bruises, a body of work filled with head-first rhythms and heart-felt reflections. In celebration of its release, we asked the South Australian rocker to playlist his 5 favourite songs on Spotify for Sunsets (Love songs) & Bruises (Break ups) and let us know how he feels about them.

Last Goodbye - Jeff Buckley

For Bruises:

“Just a stunningly beautiful song! His lyrics in this song, along with his haunting and powerful voice, make this a must for any breakup!”

Song #3 - Stone Sour

For Sunsets:

“A good ol rock love song! You don’t hear this sort of song these days but I know the lead singer, Corey Taylor is a big fan of 80’s 90’s rock, so he did one! This one is close to me and my wife.”

Shut up - Black Eyed Peas

For Bruises:

“Love the BEP’s and this one is a cracker of a “relationship going south” song. And Fergie's voice is one of the best!”

Wednesday Morning, 3 am - Simon and Garfunkel

A Bruiser at Sunset:

“It would be remiss of me to not have a Simon and Garfunkel song in any favourite list. The best singer/songwriter combo ever in my book. This one is a beautiful love ode that ends up being quite sad at the end.”

Still Remains - Stone Temple Pilots

For Sunsets:

“This is a brilliant song both lyrically and musically. It sways like a leaf on the breeze. To feel a love, like is told in this song, is a thing of beauty that we all should strive.”
